Safety recalls

Attention

Safety recalls may affect this vehicle.

  1. 1 Recall R/2025/349 Takata Driver and/or Passenger Airbag Recall (Global VINs)

Defect: Affected vehicles are already included in Safety Recalls within the markets they have previously resided in. The vehicles may be fitted with a driver and/or passenger airbag/s which if deployed may do so with excessive force causing sharp metal fragments to be released this may cause serious injury which could prove fatal to people in the vicinity.

Remedy: Vehicles will have the affected airbags checked and if necessary replaced.

  2. 2 Recall R/2024/403 Check Driver's Airbag for Conversion Takata SDI & PSDI-5

Defect: Affected vehicles may have had a retrofit or conversion of the airbag using a previously recalled airbag variant which if deployed may do so with excessive force causing sharp metal fragments to be released this may cause serious injury possibly fatal to people in the vicinity. The original factory fitment airbag for the vehicle is not affected.

Remedy: Vehicles will have the airbag checked and if necessary replaced.

  3. 3 Recall R/2023/016 A possible degradation of the propellant tablets could lead to an over-aggressive combustion in the event the airbag is activated which may cause the inflator body to rupture

Defect: A possible degradation of airbag propellant tablets could lead to an over-aggressive combustion in the event the airbag is activated which may cause the inflator body to rupture.

Remedy: On affected vehicles the drivers airbag module will be replaced.

  4. 4 Recall R/2022/255 Undetected EGR System leaks may cause thermal activity in the intake manifold

Remedy: The engine management control unit (DDE) will be programmed with improved software incorporating the latest OBD functionality.

  1. 5 Recall R/2022/206 The exhaust gas recirculation cooler may leak over time and cause thermal incident

Remedy: On the affected vehicles the EGR cooler module will be replaced.

  2. 6 Recall R/2018/341 Exhaust gas recirculation module cooler could leak

Defect: The EGR cooler may leakpresenting a fire risk

Remedy: A visual inspection of the EGR cooler to check for leaks and excessive build-up of deposits. The EGR cooler will be replaced on all affected vehicles

  3. 7 Recall R/2018/258 Exhaust gas recirculation cooler could potentially leak over time

Defect: The EGR cooler may leakpresenting a fire risk.

Remedy: The EGR cooler will be replaced with an improved version.

  4. 8 Recall R/2016/300 Power steering may not perform correctly

Defect: The electrical contact of the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) of the Electric Power Steering (EPS) is not sufficiently robust over the service life of the vehicle. As a result the power steering support may fail possibly leading to disconcerting driving situation for the driver. Additionally in a few cases a localised thermal event cannot be excluded.

Remedy: Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and replace the steering gear (EPS).

  5. 9 Recall R/2016/224 Possible loss of control

Defect: The bolts securing the rear axle support should not be re-used after removal. Affected vehicles may have had the rear axle support refitted after repair work using the original fitted bolts. These may work and though noise and vibration are likely continued use may affect the vehicle's handling.

Remedy: On affected vehicles replace the rear axle support bolts.

  6. 10 Recall R/2015/109 Engine may stall

Defect: The in tank fuel pump may contain sub components that have not been correctly nickel plated. This may cause excessive friction leading to the fuel pump being inoperative. The driver may experience a no start condition or in the worst case an engine stall. A warning lamp and error message will display. Steering and brakes will still function.

Remedy: Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and replace the in tank fuel pump with a modified version.

  7. 11 Recall R/2014/188 Seat belt may malfunction

Defect: On affected vehicles the Driver's seatbelt retractor may be faulty. The seat belt may be hard to pull out or below zero degrees it may not be possible to pull the belt out. In these instances a driver may not be able to use the belt as intended.

Remedy: On affected vehicles Check belt operation and replace belt if necessary

Insurers record a car as a write-off (Category A, B, S or N) when it’s too damaged or too costly to repair. A repaired write-off can be sold again, but it’s worth less.

Frequently asked questions

What’s the difference between a Basic Car Report and a Full History Report?

This Basic Car Report is free and built from public DVLA and DVSA records for FV64 UNM: its MOT history, the mileage recorded at each MOT, tax and SORN status, ULEZ status and safety recalls where available. The Full History Report adds the checks those public records can’t show: outstanding finance, insurance write-offs, police stolen records, previous owners, plate changes and mileage records from beyond the MOT.

How can I check if a car has outstanding finance or has been stolen?

Neither is in the Basic Car Report, because public DVLA and DVSA records don’t include finance agreements or police stolen reports; they come from separate finance and police data. The Full History Report checks both for FV64 UNM, along with write-offs and previous owners, before you hand over any money.

What should I check before buying a used car?

Start with the public checks in this report: the MOT history for repeat failures and advisories, mileage readings that rise steadily, tax and SORN status, and any outstanding safety recalls. Then check what public records don’t show: outstanding finance, insurance write-offs, stolen records and ownership history. Finally, see the car in person and make sure the V5C logbook and VIN match the car and the seller.

What should I check before buying a used BMW?

BMWs fail their MOT most often on lamps, reflectors and electrical equipment: 23% of their failures, against 25% for all cars. Tyres account for more of their failures than average, 22% against 13%. In this car’s MOT history above, look for failures and advisories in those areas and ask whether they were fixed.

Are BMWs reliable used cars?

MOT results are a useful public guide. In 2025, BMWs passed 79.3% of their initial MOT tests, 7 points above the 72.3% average for all cars and 18th of 63 makes. Older ones pass less often, 88.3% at 3 to 5 years old against 70.3% at 11 years and over, so how this car has been looked after matters most: its MOT history above is the best evidence. Compare every BMW model’s MOT record.
