On hpicheck.com the headline figure is £19.99 for the full hpi check®, which the site describes as 80+ data points backed by a £30,000 guarantee. Below it sits a Basic Check at £9.99. The site states that tier does not include mileage discrepancies or write-off details and does not carry the guarantee. MultiCheck sells three full checks for £29.99.
So the honest answer is a range rather than a single number. One full branded check is £19.99. Three bought together land at roughly £10 each. The £9.99 option drops the two findings most used car buyers are actually paying to see. Carpeep sits in the middle at £15 for one full report, with nothing held back for a higher tier.

If you are checking several cars, the per-check maths runs against Carpeep. MultiCheck gives you three full hpi checks for £29.99, which works out near £10 each rather than £15. Total Car Check and MotorCheck both advertise £3.99 a check on a five pack, and Auto Trader charges £6.95 for a single report. On raw price per check, Carpeep is not the cheapest option here.
The hpi check report also carries data Carpeep does not sell. It includes a guide valuation where available, safety recall data, and a logbook check that cross-references the V5C serial number and issue date you type in. Solera also runs bike, van and VIN checks under the same brand and says it has protected car buyers since 1938. If you want a valuation inside the report, buy theirs.

How much does an HPI check cost in 2026?
On hpicheck.com the full hpi check is £19.99, the Basic Check is £9.99 and MultiCheck is £29.99 for three full checks. Those figures were read from the site on 3 September 2026. Other UK providers price a full history report between roughly £6.95 and £15, so the market answer is a range rather than one number.
Why is there a £9.99 tier and a £19.99 tier?
They are different products. hpicheck.com states that the £9.99 Basic Check does not include mileage discrepancies or write-off details and does not carry the £30,000 guarantee. The £19.99 full check includes both plus the guarantee. If you are buying a used car, the two items missing from the cheaper tier are usually the reason you are checking at all.
What is the cheapest way to check several cars?
Bundles. MotorCheck and Total Car Check both advertise five checks for £19.99, which is £3.99 each. hpi check sells three for £29.99. The AA lists £6 per vehicle on its five vehicle option. A pack only pays off if you use every check, and some providers put a time limit on unused credits, so read the terms before you buy.
Is Carpeep an HPI check?
No. HPI is a registered trademark of Solera and Carpeep has no affiliation with it. Carpeep is an independent UK provider selling its own vehicle history report for £15. People often use the phrase HPI check to mean any used car history check, which is why the term shows up on comparison pages like this one.
Does the £15 Carpeep report include a valuation?
No. Carpeep does not sell valuations, service history, insurance status, recall data or ULEZ status. It covers outstanding finance, write-off markers, stolen markers, mileage and full MOT history, keeper history, plate and colour changes, import, export and scrapped markers, tax status and recorded specification. Are free car checks enough?
They cover a different job. The DVLA and DVSA services show tax status and MOT history for nothing, which is genuinely useful. They do not show outstanding finance, insurance write-off markers or stolen markers, because that data comes from lenders, insurers and the police rather than from public records.
