Safety recalls
Attention
Safety recalls may affect this vehicle.
-
1 Recall R/2026/181 Multi Vehicle Line (MVL): Telecommunications Control Module (TCU) loss of Function Software Update
Defect: Affected vehicles may experience a loss of emergency call system (eCall) functionality which impacts both automatic and manual eCall events.
Remedy: Update the Telematics Control Unit software to the latest level.
-
2 Recall R/2025/527 25SC4 Kuga - Do not charge high voltage battery to levels above 80%
Defect: Ford constantly monitors production processes and vehicles in service. While monitoring vehicles in operation we have become aware of a number of Kuga PHEV vehicles on which the high voltage battery may have some cells that could potentially develop an internal short circuit. In the event of a high voltage battery cell internal short circuit the customer will experience a Stop Safely Now message and warning icon in the instrument cluster. The customer may also experience a loss of motive power increasing the risk of an accident. The customer will continue to have 12-volt (V) accessories steering and braking control. The customer may also experience battery thermal venting potentially resulting in a vehicle fire increasing the risk of injury. Although customers may recall our previous communication about a similar issue under Field Service Action (FSA) 24S79 all customers will need to follow these new instructions regardless of whether that prior action was completed on their vehicles.
Remedy: Ford engineers are working on the development of a remedy for this issue. While Ford has not issued instructions to stop driving until a remedy becomes available to mitigate the risk Ford will ask all affected customers to ONLY use the default Auto EV mode and avoid deep mud and snow modes until further notice. Ford will also send customers a letter instructing them not to charge their High-Voltage Battery above 80%. To make it easier for customers to limit the charge Ford will include with this letter a leaflet containing clear instructions on how to set the limit using the in-vehicle screen or via the Ford App. Once a remedy is available Ford will send customers a follow up letter instructing them to contact their dealer to schedule an appointment in order for the fix to be deployed on their vehicle.
-
3 Recall R/2025/359 CrossCar: Sync3 Rear-View Camera Software Update
Defect: On affected vehicles a software problem may result in issues with the rear-view camera that reduce the driver's view or with it remaining on after a reversing event.
Remedy: Update the vehicle software to the latest level.
-
4 Recall R/2025/243 25S54 Kuga S-Max and Galaxy - Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Software Update
Defect: Certain Kuga S-Max and Galaxy vehicles equipped with a 2.5L HEV/PHEV Engine may not have the remedy for Safety Recall 23S27 installed correctly but were recorded as having received the repair successfully. Because the correct software update may not have been installed on these vehicles the underlying condition specified in Safety Recall 23S27 potential under hood fire may still exist.
Remedy: Dealers are to update the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) software.

-
5 Recall R/2025/163 25S21 Kuga - Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Software Update
Defect: On affected vehicles the remedy software for a previous recall which was needed to mitigate a potential fire risk may not have been installed correctly.
Remedy: Update the Power Control Module software and perform an additional verification process to ensure the software has been installed correctly.
-
6 Recall R/2025/162 25S16 Kuga PHEV - Powertrain Control Module Software Update
Defect: On affected vehicles software from a previous recall may not have been installed correctly. Vehicles may have Hybrid Powertrain Control Module (HPCM) software that can result in a forced neutral condition while driving.
Remedy: Update and verify the software.
-
7 Recall R/2025/094 X-Car Powertain Control Module (PCM) Software Update
Defect: Affected vehicles may develop a crack in the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF).
Remedy: Update software to prevent a cracked DPF. Test and replace DPFs that are already cracked.
-
8 Recall R/2024/260 24S33 - Kuga 2.5L PHEV supercreep
Defect: On affected vehicles a recent update to the Power Control Module (PCM) software could result in the vehicle shifting into neutral and coasting to a stop. The subsequent limp home mode results in unintended acceleration or 'supercreep'.
Remedy: Update the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) software
-
9 Recall R/2024/141 24S16 - Kuga - PCM Programming and Drain Tube Installation
Defect: A small number of vehicles on which the fuel injectors may crack and leak. In the event of an injector failing this may result in fuel accumulating on the top of the engine. The accumulation of fuel could become the catalyst for a fire due to the proximity to the exhaust system and lack of an escape route for the leaking fuel.
Remedy: The dealer will fit a specially developed drain tube which will safely drain any leaking fuel away from hot surfaces like the cylinder head or exhaust. Also the vehicle software will be updated which will allow any drop in fuel pressure to be detected. This software will reduce the power of the engine if a drop in fuel pressure is detected and a warning light will be illuminated in the instrument cluster.
-
10 Recall R/2023/175 23S27 Kuga S-Max/Galaxy 2.5L HEV/PHEV Engine: Engine Compartment Issue
Defect: Engine failure that may lead to a breach of the engine oil sump or engine block
Remedy: Software update
-
11 Recall R/2023/080 In the event of a fuel injector failing this will potentially cause a fuel leak
Remedy: A drain tube will need to be installed to allow safe passage of the fuel away from hot surfaces in the event of a leak occurring. Also the dealer will perform a PCM software update that will reduce the engine power if a drop in fuel pressure is detected and a warning light will be illuminated to make the user aware.

Frequently asked questions
What’s the difference between a Basic Car Report and a Full History Report?
This Basic Car Report is free and built from public DVLA and DVSA records for MH23 EVF: its MOT history, the mileage recorded at each MOT, tax and SORN status, ULEZ status and safety recalls where available. The Full History Report adds the checks those public records can’t show: outstanding finance, insurance write-offs, police stolen records, previous owners, plate changes and mileage records from beyond the MOT.
How can I check if a car has outstanding finance or has been stolen?
Neither is in the Basic Car Report, because public DVLA and DVSA records don’t include finance agreements or police stolen reports; they come from separate finance and police data. The Full History Report checks both for MH23 EVF, along with write-offs and previous owners, before you hand over any money.
What should I check before buying a used car?
Start with the public checks in this report: the MOT history for repeat failures and advisories, mileage readings that rise steadily, tax and SORN status, and any outstanding safety recalls. Then check what public records don’t show: outstanding finance, insurance write-offs, stolen records and ownership history. Finally, see the car in person and make sure the V5C logbook and VIN match the car and the seller.
What should I check before buying a used Ford?
Fords fail their MOT most often on lamps, reflectors and electrical equipment: 29% of their failures, against 25% for all cars. In this car’s MOT history above, look for failures and advisories in that area and ask whether they were fixed.
Are Fords reliable used cars?
MOT results are a useful public guide. In 2025, Fords passed 68.8% of their initial MOT tests, 3.5 points below the 72.3% average for all cars and 43rd of 63 makes. Older ones pass less often, 83.9% at 3 to 5 years old against 58.1% at 11 years and over, so how this car has been looked after matters most: its MOT history above is the best evidence. Compare every Ford model’s MOT record.
