Big miles hidden

Most used adverts are NP300 double cabs in Acenta, N-Connecta and Tekna trim, with the 2.3 twin-turbo diesel and either the manual or the automatic. Tekna trucks came loaded and now sell to lifestyle buyers as much as to trades. The older D40 is cheap, plentiful and where the chassis stories come from.
Watch three things on any Navara. Corrosion under the rear of the chassis, the condition of the rear suspension whether it runs leaf springs or coils, and the mileage line across the MOT history. A truck that has towed hard all its life is not a problem in itself, as long as the price and the paperwork admit it.

Before you travel, and definitely before a deposit. Navaras sell fast when they are honest and slowly when they are not, and sellers can be vague about chassis work. A registration gives you the write-off, finance, stolen and mileage picture in a couple of minutes.

Does the report show if a Navara has been scrapped?
Yes. If the vehicle has been notified to DVLA as scrapped or destroyed, the report flags it. That matters on the Navara because chassis corrosion sent a number of D40s for scrap rather than repair. A pickup advertised for sale while carrying a scrapped marker is a serious problem and you should walk away.
Can a history check tell me about Navara chassis rust?
Not directly, because corrosion is a physical condition rather than a database marker. What you do get is the full MOT history, and corrosion is normally recorded as an advisory long before it becomes a failure. Read those notes in order, then inspect the chassis rails and rear mounts yourself or pay someone to.
Is a used Navara harder to value now Nissan has stopped selling it?
Prices are set by what buyers will pay, and Carpeep does not provide valuations. The history still helps you argue. A Navara with a straight mileage line, one or two keepers and no markers is worth more than one with gaps, and the report gives you the evidence to say so.
What is the difference between Cat S and Cat N on a Navara?
Cat S means structural damage was recorded, which on a ladder chassis pickup usually means the frame, suspension mounts or bulkhead. Cat N means non-structural, so panels, lights, glass or trim. Do I need the V5C to run a check?
No. You only need the registration. When you view the pickup, ask to see the V5C and check the VIN and the registered keeper details against the report. The V5C names the registered keeper rather than the legal owner, so a company vehicle can show a person or a business depending on how it was registered.
