This is how a flagged record appears in a report. Hard-worked vans hide more than a clean panel suggests, so this is the part that matters before you pay.

What a Peugeot Partner history check helps you spot.

A van that looks tidy on the forecourt can still carry finance, a wound-back odometer or a repaired write-off. These are the checks that surface it.

Auction to advert

Ex-lease Partners arrive at auction in batches. A quick trade keeper followed by a private sale often means a fleet van in fresh paint.

Check the markers twice

Run the report when you find the van, then again on collection day. New entries are added as they are reported.

Read the gaps

A missing MOT year on a working van usually means it sat off the road. Ask why, and what was done before it went back on.

Peugeot Partner history check

The Partner is a fleet van first.

Peugeot sells the Partner to businesses in batches, not to drivers one at a time. Leasing companies, utility contractors and national service firms take them in Professional trim, run them on three or four year contracts, then return them to auction. That is where most used Partners come from, whichever generation you are looking at.

An ex-contract van is not a bad buy. Fleet vans are usually serviced on a schedule and tested on time. The problem is what happens next, as it moves through traders, gets a respray over the livery and picks up an advert that calls it a one owner van. Carpeep shows the record instead of the story.

Risks to check on a used Peugeot Partner.

These are the specific things worth confirming before you put any money down.

Contract mileage, private advert

A Partner returned from a four year lease has done motorway and multi drop miles at a rate no private owner matches. Sellers know that. Compare the advertised figure with the DVSA readings taken at each MOT and see whether the yearly jumps add up.

Agreements that outlive the business

Vans are financed by companies that later close, restructure or sell the fleet on. The agreement is registered against the vehicle, so it does not disappear with the trading name. Carpeep reports outstanding hire purchase, PCP and conditional sale markers on the registration you enter.

Stolen and re-plated vans

Small vans are taken for the tools inside and sometimes for the vehicle itself, then given a different identity. The report checks the police stolen marker and cross references the VIN with the registration, so you can compare the paperwork with the van before money moves.

Site damage and Cat N

Grip and Professional vans work off tarmac, on building plots and rural jobs. Panel damage, kerbed wheels and a hedge down one side add up quickly against a low value van, and insurers write them off on cost. Cat N and older Cat D markers stay on the record permanently.

What a Peugeot Partner history check covers.

Every Carpeep report runs the same core checks against the registration. This is what each one tells you.

Finance

Flags any outstanding finance recorded against the vehicle, so you know whether a lender still has a legal claim.

Car finance check

Accident and write-off history

Shows any recorded accident or insurance write-off marker (Cat A, B, S or N), with the category and date.

Write-off check

Stolen status

Cross-references police records to flag any theft marker against the registration and VIN.

Stolen car check

Mileage history

Builds a mileage timeline from MOT readings so you can spot drops or inconsistencies that point to clocking.

Mileage check

MOT history

Full pass and fail history, advisories and the mileage recorded at each test.

MOT check

Keeper & import status

Keeper history, import and export markers, plate changes and the recorded vehicle details.

Import check

Before you buy

When to check a used Partner.

Check before bidding at auction. Trade sales move quickly and the catalogue rarely tells you about finance or a category marker. The registration is enough to pull the keeper record, the DVSA mileage readings and the markers before the hammer falls.

Check again before you pay a private seller. A £15 report on the day warns you about an agreement registered last week, and it gives you the mileage line and the keeper dates in writing if the van later turns out to be misdescribed.

Where our data comes from.

Always from official records. We do not create, edit or estimate any data.

DVLA

Registration, keeper history, import and export status and recorded vehicle details.

DVSA

Full MOT test history including results, advisories and mileage at each test.

Insurance industry records

Recorded write-off markers such as Cat A, B, S and N from insurance industry records.

UK finance lenders

Outstanding finance agreements including HP, PCP and conditional sale records.

Police stolen vehicle records

Stolen vehicle markers from UK police databases, checked against the registration and VIN.

Vehicle identity checks

VIN and registration cross-referenced to flag plate changes, cloning or identity mismatches.

Peugeot Partner History Check FAQs

Is the Peugeot Partner the same van as the Berlingo?

Since 2008 the Partner and the Berlingo have shared most of their engineering, and the current generation adds the Vauxhall Combo and the Toyota Proace City to the family. They are not identical in trim or equipment. The report runs on the registration, so it returns the specification and history held for that exact vehicle.

What is Partner Professional trim?

Professional is the fleet specification most leasing companies ordered, usually with air conditioning, a full bulkhead and satellite navigation on later vans. Seeing it on a used van is a strong hint of a business first life. Read the keeper dates on the report to see how long that first keeper held on to it.

Does an ex-lease Partner have more keepers?

Often fewer on paper. A leasing company can hold the van as a single registered keeper for the whole contract, then sell it straight to a dealer. So a low keeper count is not proof of gentle use. Read it alongside the mileage readings and the MOT advisories rather than on its own.

Will the report show if the Partner was exported?

Export and import markers appear where DVLA holds them, along with scrapped and destroyed markers. A van recorded as exported that is being sold in the UK needs explaining before you go any further. The same goes for anything showing as scrapped, which should not be back on the road.

Does the report tell me if road tax is paid?

It shows the tax status held for the vehicle at the moment you run it, along with the vehicle specification. Tax does not transfer with a sale, so you will need to tax the Partner yourself before you drive it away, using the new keeper slip from the V5C.
