A later MOT reading is lower than an earlier one. We recommend verifying the mileage with the seller.

What a Infiniti history check helps you spot.

The risks that cost buyers the most are the ones you cannot spot on a test drive. These are the ones the report puts in front of you.

Finance from a heavy PCP era

Most Q30s and QX30s were sold on monthly deals. Old agreements are not always settled.

Weak resale, quick sales

Values fell hard after the brand left. Cheap cars change hands fast and paperwork slips.

Company car mileage

Q50 diesels covered motorway miles for business drivers. Check the MOT readings match the advert.

Infiniti history check

Buying an Infiniti after the brand left Europe.

Infiniti stopped selling cars in western Europe in 2020 and closed its UK dealer network, which was small to begin with. The Q30 and QX30 hatchbacks, built at Sunderland on Mercedes A-Class underpinnings, make up most of what is left, along with the Q50 saloon. Every one of them is now serviced outside a franchised network.

That withdrawal hit values hard. Cars that were priced against German rivals when new now sell for far less, and a brand nobody recognises is difficult to move on, so Infinitis travel through the trade quickly. Fast, cheap sales are exactly the conditions in which unsettled finance and unmentioned damage get past a buyer.

Risks to check on a used Infiniti.

Every used Infiniti has a history. These are the specific things worth confirming before you commit.

PCP deals that outlasted the brand

Q30 and QX30 buyers were sold hard on monthly finance, and four-year deals signed before the withdrawal ran on long after the dealers closed. If a balance is still owed, the lender keeps a claim on the car. Carpeep checks hire purchase, PCP and conditional sale records against the plate.

Write-offs on a car nobody wants

Low resale values make an insurer's sums easy, so an Infiniti with repairable damage is often declared a Cat S or Cat N loss rather than fixed. Those cars come back to the market cheap and undocumented. Carpeep shows the category recorded and the date it was added.

Fleet miles on the Q50

The Q50 sold mainly to business and lease drivers, so genuine mileages are high and a car advertised as low use deserves checking. Carpeep lists every reading taken at MOT, which shows whether the miles built steadily or the number moved the wrong way between tests.

Keepers stacking up fast

An unfamiliar badge is hard to sell privately, so Infinitis often bounce between traders and short-term keepers. Three or four changes in a couple of years usually means nobody wanted to keep the car. Carpeep gives the keeper count and the date of every change on the registration.

What a Infiniti history check covers.

Every Carpeep report runs the same core checks against the registration. This is what each one tells you.

Finance

Flags any outstanding finance recorded against the vehicle, so you know whether a lender still has a legal claim.

Car finance check

Accident and write-off history

Shows any recorded accident or insurance write-off marker (Cat A, B, S or N), with the category and date.

Write-off check

Stolen status

Cross-references police records to flag any theft marker against the registration and VIN.

Stolen car check

Mileage history

Builds a mileage timeline from MOT readings so you can spot drops or inconsistencies that point to clocking.

Mileage check

MOT history

Full pass and fail history, advisories and the mileage recorded at each test.

MOT check

Keeper & import status

Keeper history, import and export markers, plate changes and the recorded vehicle details.

Import check

Before you buy

When to run an Infiniti history check.

Check before you make an offer. Infinitis are advertised as premium cars at ordinary prices, and the report tells you whether the low figure reflects the badge or something in the car's record. Finance and write-off results are the two that change the decision.

Check again if you are buying from a small trader. Cars like these are bought at auction and moved on quickly, sometimes with little known about them. The report is built from DVLA, DVSA, finance and insurance write-off records rather than the seller's description.

Where our data comes from.

Always from official records. We do not create, edit or estimate any data.

DVLA

Registration, keeper history, import and export status and recorded vehicle details.

DVSA

Full MOT test history including results, advisories and mileage at each test.

Insurance industry records

Recorded write-off markers such as Cat A, B, S and N from insurance industry records.

UK finance lenders

Outstanding finance agreements including HP, PCP and conditional sale records.

Police stolen vehicle records

Stolen vehicle markers from UK police databases, checked against the registration and VIN.

Vehicle identity checks

VIN and registration cross-referenced to flag plate changes, cloning or identity mismatches.

Infiniti History Check FAQs

Does Infiniti leaving Europe affect servicing and parts?

It changes where you go. There is no UK Infiniti dealer network any more, so work moves to independents and Nissan specialists. Many mechanical parts on the Q30 and QX30 are shared with Mercedes and Nissan, which helps. A history check cannot show parts supply, but it does show whether the car has been off the road.

Is an Infiniti Q30 the same as a Mercedes A-Class?

They share a platform, engines and gearboxes, though the Q30 was built at Sunderland and the bodywork and interior are Infiniti's own. Your history check runs on the registration, so it returns the records held for that specific car: MOT and mileage history, keeper changes, finance, write-off and stolen markers.

What does an Infiniti history check cost?

£15 for a full report on one registration. It covers outstanding finance, write-off categories including Cat S and Cat N, police stolen markers, mileage from every MOT, the complete test and advisory history, keeper changes and dates, plate transfers, colour changes, import and export markers, scrapped markers, tax status and specification.

Are Infiniti imports common?

A few turn up, usually brought in from the United States or the Middle East rather than sold through the old UK network. Imports can be harder to insure and to source trim for. Carpeep flags import and export markers held against the registration, so you can see whether the car started life as a UK-supplied one.

Will the report tell me what an Infiniti is worth?

No. Carpeep does not provide valuations. It gives you the facts that affect value: whether finance is outstanding, whether the car has a write-off or stolen marker, how the mileage has moved, how many registered keepers there have been and what the MOT record shows. Price it yourself from there.
